GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials said traffic will be slowed along the I-85 /385 Gateway Project construction area for three nights starting on Tuesday during blasting operations.

Drivers should expect pacing operations on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 6 and 6:30 p.m.

Gateway Project spokesman John Boyanoski released this statement on Monday:

“A pacing operation occurs when the Highway Patrol temporarily slows, but does not stop traffic during heavy construction work. There should be no significant impact to the traveling public. These pacing operations are being done to fracture rock via blasting work to facilitate the installation of storm drainage pipe on the project.  Drivers are not expected to feel the blasting and there will be nothing to see as the blasting will be confined to the bottom of the pipe trench.”

Traffic on Woodruff Road seeking to enter the ramp to I-385 Northbound from both directions will be paced for two minute intervals while the blast occurs.
