ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Former NewSpring pastor Perry Noble took to Facebook on Monday to update his followers on his progress since his removal from the church.

In Noble’s Facebook post he says through counseling he has made major progress toward healing after the church removed him from his leadership position in July stating his “posture towards his marriage [and] increased reliance on alcohol and other behaviors,” as the reasons for his dismissal.

In the letter Noble says he can identify at least four decisions he made that were unwise while pastor at NewSpring. Those four decisions include:

  1. Choosing isolation over community
  2. Choosing alcohol over his wife Lucretia and their daughter Charisse
  3. Choosing control over relationships
  4. Choosing silence over crying out for help

“After we discussed this [my counselor] and I both felt it would be beneficial to share these things as it helps in my healing process,” Noble said. “But also so that some of you will not make the same mistakes that I did.”

Noble acknowledged his love for being pastor at NewSpring Church and his thankfulness for everyone’s prayers and support through his healing process.

Being the pastor of NewSpring Church was one of the greatest privileges of my life. The things we got to see Jesus do over the past 16 years were simply miraculous. It was an honor to stand beside you as we got to see Jesus to way more than we ever asked for or imagined - Godspeed to you as you continue to do whatever it takes to reach people far from God.

Noble says he doesn’t know what’s next for him, but he said he knows what happened to him doesn’t have to happen to anyone else.

“Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength,” Noble said. “I was weak--I did not ask for help, and the end result was a train wreck. What happened to me doesn't have to happen to you - you can ask for help today.”
