We tied the record high temperature on Tuesday at GSP! It got up to 86 degrees, tying the old record from 1938.
Extremely warm conditions for October will remain in place today and Thursday, possibly tying more records, then a blast of cool air will arrive for Friday and the weekend.
Today, sunshine will warm temps quickly to 87 in the Upstate and 82 in the mountains. This would tie the record at GSP and come 1 degree from the record in Asheville.
Thursday looks very warm as well, but cooler weather will be getting closer! Highs will still warm into the low to mid-80s, with a small chance for mountain showers in the evening. A cold front sweeps through on Friday, and that will bring a few showers to the entire region early Friday. As the skies clear Friday afternoon, cooler temperatures build in. Expect Friday afternoon to stay in the mid to lower 60s, and then dropping into the mid 40s for the Upstate and upper 30s in the mountains for Friday night. Saturday will stay sunny and cool, with highs in the 60s area wide and lows back to the 30s and 40s.
In the tropics we are monitoring a disturbance that could become Tropical Storm Otto later this week. It could come within a couple hundred miles of the U.S. coast, but is not expected to bring any impact.
