CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson is being recognized for his good work off the gridiron.

Watson, a former Habitat for Humanity house recipient, has dedicated his life to helping others as the face of the organization's Anderson chapter. Watson thought he was just helping out with the Tigers' annual Habitat for Humanity build on Tuesday, but instead was surprised with a special ceremony.

The 21-year-old Gainsville native was named the recipient of the 2016 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team trophy for his dedication to community service.

"To be an 'All-American' in football, you've gotta be a good football player," said head coach Dabo Swinney. "To win the Heisman, you've got to be a good football player. But to get one this time, to win that award? You better be a great human being that just happens to be a good football player."

Watson, who humbly accepted the award, said he was involved in Habitat for Humanity to help families like his own.
