Greenville,SC -

Greenville County Sheriff deputies were keeping children safe on Halloween. While they patrolled neighborhoods and the streets, they also made sure sex offenders in the county obeyed the laws.

South Carolina’s laws placed those on probation or parole under a curfew from 5:30 PM until 9 PM. They also had to make sure their homes were not targets for trick or treaters. Their lights had to be off and they could hand out candy.

There are nearly a thousand registered sex offenders in Greenville County. Many of them came through the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center Monday to update their addresses and photos.

Deputy Matthew Broad with the Greenville Sheriff’s department drove around Monday night looking for suspicious activity when he was not on calls.

"We're going to be looking out for anything that we think might be a problem for the public,” said Deputy Broad,” Anything we can do just to kind of make sure everyone is safe.”
