Today is going to be another very warm day with highs in the low 80s for the Upstate and upper 70s in the mountains. Showers will push toward the mountains by Thursday evening, then a few sprinkles will be possible in the Upstate overnight.
The drought has reached severe and extreme levels across the region. The Upstate needs nearly 10" of rain, while the mountains need about 9" to get back to normal.
Friday will be much cooler, with highs near normal for this time of year. Temps will only make it to 60 in the mountains and 69 in the Upstate with a breezy northwest wind! Friday night will be chilly in the mid 40s for the Upstate and upper 30s in the mountains.
Sunshine will dominate for Saturday and Sunday with the cooler, seasonably temperatures sticking around! Frost will be possible Saturday night in western North Carolina, while the Upstate will stay in the 40s in most spots.
