Coroner identifies burned, decomposed body behind Upstate Waffle House

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The coroner has identified the body found burned in a wooded area behind a Greenville County restaurant.

Deputies said a death was under investigation Monday after a body was found behind the Waffle House on Fairmont Avenue near Melvin Drive and South Pleasantburg Drive.

The coroner has identified the burned remains as that of 34-year-old Henriette Danielle Crawford.

Authorities were called out to the scene around 11:15 a.m. when a hunter discovered the remains in a wooded area, according to the Greenville County Coroner's Office. 

The coroner said the body was burned and partially decomposed.

Crawford's cause of death is unknown. How long she was deceased is also unknown at this time .

An autopsy has been scheduled.

This case is under active investigation.
