LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The coroner responded to a scene in Laurens County Monday night after two people were hit by a vehicle, resulting in one death.

Forty-six-year-old Billy Lindsey Jackson of Waterloo was killed as a result of the crash, the coroner confirms. His cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

The coroner said the other person was transported to the hospital. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.

The incident occurred on US 221 near the Greenwood County line, six miles north of the city of Greenwood. Troopers say the pedestrians walked out in front of a vehicle when they were struck.

According to troopers, the 59-year-old driver was in a 2005 Nissan and was uninjured.
