WATERLOO, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain confirmed that a drowning had been called in on Friday morning.

According to Chastain, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and first responders were on the scene to assist. The incident reportedly happened on Lake Greenwood off of Hidden Lake Road.

DNR officials confirmed Friday afternoon that divers were called to the scene to search for a man in his 70's who reportedly fell overboard a boat on the lake.

Around 4:30 p.m.officials said a body was recovered from the water. The coroner identified the victim as 74-year-old David Morton of Gray Court.

An autopsy will be conducted on Saturday but the coroner said foul play is not suspected.
