BOWERSVILLE, GA (FOX Carolina) -

Multiple fire departments are battling an ongoing fire burning at a canola plant in Hart County.

The Hart County Sheriff's Office said deputies were helping to direct traffic near the fire at AgStrong on West Main Street where grain bins were burning.

The fire has reportedly been burning on and off for six weeks but the Hart County Fire Department has been on scene fairly consistently for approximately two weeks.

Firefighters said the grain in the bins is too charred to be explosive at this point, but there is a risk of a bin collapse. Ladder trucks are being used to cool the structures until the fire burns out.

All firefighters involved in the operation are safe.

AgStrong is an oilseed processing plant specializing in canola and sunflower oils. Part of the plant is closed due to the fire.
