CALHOUN FALLS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A remembrance ceremony took place on Saturday for the fisherman who drowned in a body of water in the Upstate.

Mitchell Gibson’s body was missing for approximately seven months before his family was finally given an answer. The coroner had determined Gibson’s cause of death to be freshwater drowning, but his manner of death remains undetermined.

Loved ones gathered at Lake Russel, the very lake Gibson’s body was discovered, and held a ceremony to remember his life. The ceremony took place at noon.

At the ceremony, family members also expressed their concern with the investigation.

Family members still have questions even after their loved one’s body was found. They believe the notes from the autopsy, such as his foot not being attached when he was found, do not add up with what they are being told. The family is having investigators look further into the results.

At this time, there has been no new information.
