GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Sunday marks the 13th annual Toy Drive in honor of the bank teller who was killed in the 2003 Blue Ridge Savings Bank murders.

On May 16 2003, Sylvia Holtzclaw was shot and killed by a robber while she was working as a bank teller at Blue Ridge Savings Bank in Greer. The robber also killed two other customers, James and Margaret Barnes, during the robbery.

Over 13 years later the search for the suspect continues and so does the annual Syl Syl Christmas Toy Drive to remember Holtzclaw. Holtzclaw’s family says she loved her children and her family and that the drive is the best way to honor her.

The Toy Drive is taking place on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Clock Restaurant on Poinsett Street in Greer. Unwrapped toys for kids of all ages will be collected at the event. Those toys will then be distributed to the Greer Cops for Tots and Country Santa programs that help less fortunate kids at Christmas.

To this day, the Greer bank murders remain unsolved, though persons of interest have been named.

Most recently, the arrest of Todd Kohlhepp and his confession to the 2003 ‘Superbike’ murders sparked renewed discussion of the case. Many people began questioning if he also committed the bank murders of 2003.

No connection has been made at this time.
