Smoky sky, mild afternoon Monday

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Wildfire smoke slowly filtering across the region will continue today. A dozen or more fires continue to burn across Western North Carolina. An Air Quality Alert will remain in effect until midnight Monday evening due to fine particles in the air as a result of the wildfires.

Winds will remain light and variable throughout the day, helping in the extinguishing efforts when it comes to wildfires.

Temperatures today reach the low to mid-60s across the region, falling into the mid-30s and low 40s overnight. Tomorrow, highs rebound back into the low 60s for the mountains, and upper 60s across the Upstate.

Sunny and mild conditions will stick around all week with the next small chance of rain arriving on Saturday.
