Deputies: 2 men charged after drugs found in stolen car

MCDOWELL, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The McDowell County Sheriff's Office reported that two men were arrested on possession of methamphetamine and a stolen vehicle.

The Sheriff's Office stated that on Oct. 11, a Marion police officer stopped a 1997 Saturn because he knew the driver, a 34-year-old man named Edwards Benge, had a revoked license. 22-year-old Ricky Keith Capps was also in the car, which deputies said had been reported stolen on Oct. 10 from a home on Leo Lane.

Deputies were called in to help search the suspect's vehicle. They said the search of the automobile turned up 1 gram of methamphetamine and a counterfeit controlled substance.

According to the McDowell County Sheriff's Office, Benge and Capps were charged by Cpl. Rodriguez with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver a counterfeit controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and possession of a stolen vehicle. Benge was also charged with driving while license revoked.
