CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association confirmed on Tuesday the passing of associate Cliff Barrows.

Barrows, 93, has served as longtime director of music programming and television and radio programming. He joined Bill Graham in 1947, three years after graduating from Bob Jones University with a degree in sacred music.

For more than six decades, Barrows hosted weekly radio program Hour of Decision. He was inducted into the Nashville Gospel Hall of Fame in 1988, and the Religious Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 1996.

“Cliff Barrows was the voice behind my father for 60 years, emceeing the platform for his Crusades and ‘The Hour of Decision’ radio program,” said Franklin Graham. “Not only was he one of my father’s closest friends, but he was a friend to all of us on the team and in the family. Growing up, and until the day of his death, I called him Uncle Cliff. He was very much a part of our family."

According to his obituary, Barrows passed after a short illness and is survived by his wife, Ann, her children, and five children from his first marriage. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Barrows.
