CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The College Football Playoff rankings are in and the Clemson Tigers are placed in the number 4 spot for week 13, making this the second week in a  row they have been given that spot.

Clemson follows behind Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan consecutively, teams that also held on to their CFP spots this week.

Clemson will face off against the USC Gamecocks in a rivalry game at the Palmetto showdown Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The teams are ranked based on conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, comparison of results against common opponents and other factors, according to the CFP website.

The 12-person CFP committee ranks the top 25 teams and assigns the top four to semifinal sites.

At the end of the regular season and conference championship games, the top four teams will go to the College Football Playoff Semi-final games.

The top team will play the fourth-placed team, and the second-placed team will play the third-placed team.
