Deputies: Man arrested, charged with attempted murder after firing at deputy in Buncombe Co.

ARDEN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man was arrested after shooting at a deputy and firing into an occupied residence in Buncombe County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say William Edward Jones, 43, discharged a firearm at a responding deputy, hitting the deputy’s vehicle twice. Jones then fired into his residence which was occupied, the report says. No one was injured.

The initial service call came in for a domestic violence incident at a residence on Spring Valley Drive in Arden at about 6:30 p.m. When deputies arrived Jones began discharging his firearm, said the report.

Jones was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder - first degree, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling/moving vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, according to the report.

The investigation is ongoing.
