GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A baby born on Nov. 11 was left at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood on Nov. 13, according to a notice of abandonment released by the Department of Social Services on Friday.

The baby was placed under the protection of Safe Haven with medical professionals and is now in DSS custody.

“Baby Doe, born November 11, 2016, is a bi-racial male that weighed about 6 pounds and 15 ounces and was 20 inches in length at birth,” the release stated.

DSS said the child falls under the jurisdiction for “Daniel’s Law,” the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act.

In accordance with the Safe Haven Act, a permanency planning hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m. on January 9, 2017, at Greenwood County Family Court.

Anyone wishing to assert parental rights must do so at this hearing.
