ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Asheville Police Department is asking for help locating a hit and run driver involved in a collision Sunday.

At about 2:24 a.m., police responded to a vehicle collision on US Highway 25 below the Interstate 40 bridge. Investigators said a bicyclist had been struck from behind by a silver Saturn as he was traveling southbound on US 25.

The 22-year-old male bicyclist was transported to Mission Hospital in critical condition, the report said.

Deputies say the car that fled the scene was a Saturn Vue model, years 2002-2007. The vehicle may have right front fender and bumper missing as a result of the collision.

Anyone with information about the silver Saturn is asked to contact the Asheville Police at 828-252-1110.
