SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Volunteers gathered to fry and smoke more than 500 turkeys to feed the homeless and families in need across the Upstate Tuesday during the 10th annual c.

Each year on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, WSSL 100 FM and Miracle Hill team up for South Carolina's largest Turkey Fry event, the radio station said.

WSSL said an experienced Fry Team cooked and smoked turkeys at the Miracle Hill rescue mission in Spartanburg, and more than 100 volunteers carved the birds and prepped side dishes, stock shelves, clean, and collect donations.

The turkeys will be served at all nine Miracle Hill shelters in Greenville, Cherokee, Pickens and Spartanburg counties. Turkeys will also be distributed to impoverished families across the Upstate.
