Deputies: Suspect arrested after early morning chase in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Buncombe County deputies said a man was arrested after leading deputies on a chase along Patton Avenue in Asheville early Tuesday morning.

The chase continued along Haywood Road and into Pisgah View Apartments, where the vehicle stopped on Granada Street and a passenger ran off on foot.

Deputies said the car then sped out of the complex and eventually back onto Haywood Road, where deputies found the car with the driver’s door open and the suspect running on foot.

The suspect was captured and later identified as James Dewon Griffin, 28, of Asheville.

Griffin was charged with felony flee to elude arrest, speeding and reckless driving; he currently in the Buncombe County Detention Facility, the report said.

His bond is set at $2,211, according to warrants.
