Coroner identifies Upstate moped driver killed in crash in Greenville Co.

The coroner confirms that an Upstate man is dead following a crash involving a moped in Travelers Rest on Monday.

According to the report, 62-year-old Michael Lee of Travelers Rest was involved in an accident on N Main Street at 5:20 p.m.

He was operating a moped when he collided with another driver, the report says.

Lee was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident and was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries at 7:17 p.m., per the coroner. It was determined that he died from blunt force trauma to the chest. The manner of death being an accident.

The traffic fatality was investigated by the coroner's office and the Travelers Rest City Police.
