GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Many across the community are joining together-to make sure those in need have a Thanksgiving Day meal this year.

One group has a goal to feed five thousand people in need of a Thanksgiving meal.

#PROJECTFEED5000 is underway. Donations have been coming in and volunteers are busy cooking up the huge feast.

This is the fourth year for the massive community Thanksgiving meal. It was created to feed those in need of a meal on the holiday.

The operation feeds the elderly, those who are sick and confined to their homes, and even people who are working on Thanksgiving and don't have time to prepare a holiday feast.

The group will be serving meals on Thanksgiving Day from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Phyllis Wheatley Community Center in Greenville

Last year, the group fed 4,700 people.
