PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Volunteers are up early on Thursday to prepare a Thanksgiving feast for hundreds of firefighters at Table Rock in Pickens County.

The volunteers are making sure firefighters that are working the Pinnacle Mountain wildfire get a much deserved meal for the holiday as many of them are away from home and will not be able to see their families.

On the menu for the feast – 25 turkeys, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and much more. The firefighters gather at the Table Rock Retreat & Conference Center to enjoy the meal. Volunteers even decorated the area for the holiday.

The volunteers will start the day off serving the fire crews breakfast. The Thanksgiving feast will be served at 6:30 p.m.

The volunteers have been serving homemade breakfasts and dinner to the firefighters for the past two weeks. They arrive as early as 4:30 a.m. to begin cooking the breakfast.

One of their biggest breakfasts consisted of 60 dozen eggs, 45 pounds of bacon and 320 sausage patties. It costs roughly $400 per breakfast.

They say the effort and money put in to making meals for the firefighters is the least they can do for all the work they are doing to protect the Party Rock community and put out the wildfire.

"It's amazing what they do and how they've come from Oregon, Utah, everywhere,” camp manager Greg Hayes said. “To come to South Carolina just to get this fire put out for us. It makes us want to give back to them.”

Donations for the fire efforts are needed. Some of the most needed items include: Sam's club gift cards, stocking caps, hand warmers, Ziploc bags, cleaning supplies and sandwich meat. Items can be brought to Table Rock Wesleyan Camp at 125 Bethany Cove Road, Pickens, SC 29671.
