SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate photographer took time out on Thanksgiving to make families visiting a soup kitchen in Spartanburg on Thursday feel special.

Jeremiah Drummond, a freshman at North Greenville University, went to the Soup Kitchen of Spartanburg on Thanksgiving to take photos of families and other members of the community visiting the soup kitchen for a holiday meal.

This will be the second time Drummond has done a photo project like this. He most recently photographed families at the Soup Kitchen of Spartanburg in December of last year as part of his award-winning service project for Furman's Emerging Public Leaders program.  The project, "P.A.F.T. (Picture a Family Together)," included volunteers from Dorman High School and featured the work of professional photographers Lee Smith and J.J. Ferguson.

After taking photos of the families and others visiting the facility, Drummond prints them off and frames them for the recipients to have as a keepsake.

"After experiencing such a great turnout from last year, I felt like it was my duty to help more families this year," Drummond said.  "There's nothing like seeing a family smile and allowing them to cherish that moment forever."
