CANDLER, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The US Forest Service said Friday that a wildfire sparked by a car wreck in Buncombe County late Wednesday night was nearly100 percent contained.

As of Friday morning, between 220 and 250 acres had burned in an area near Upper Hominy and Pisgah Highway in Candler.

Officials said containment lines had been dug around the fire and any homes that were threatened were being protected by Buncombe County firefighters.

The fire had almost burned itself out as of Friday morning.
