Pinnacle Mountain fire surpasses 10,000 acres

PUMPKINTOWN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The South Carolina Forestry Commission said Monday that the Pinnacle Mountain wildfire had grown to more than 10,097 acres and was 57 percent contained.

Officials said that the fire was caused by humans on Nov 9. No arrests have been made.

No evacuations were needed as of Monday morning, but structure protection teams were placed in high risk areas in Greenville, Pickens, and Transylvania counties. Officials said the fire could threaten as many as 523 structures in Greenville County, 112 in Pickens, and 171 in Transylvania.

No injuries have been reported thus far as a result of the fire.

Table Rock State Park remains closed. The Table Rock Trail System will also remain closed until a damage assessment can be made.

The total cost spent fighting the fire as  is estimated at $4.2 million.
