Troopers are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian and three vehicles in Greenville County overnight.

The crash occurred Sunday at 12:05 a.m. about 3.5 miles west of Greenville on White Horse Road.

According to the report, a 38-year-old driving a pickup truck, a 70-year-old driving an SUV, and another unknown vehicle were involved in a collision that took the life of a pedestrian.

The male pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene after being struck by one of the vehicles. He was identified as 42-year-old Mario Penaloza Piza of Asheville. He suffered multiple blunt force injuries.

The drivers of the two known vehicles were both wearing seat belts, and were not entrapped or ejected during the crash.

Warrants were signed charging Bayne with leaving the scene of the accident after the death. Bayne was also driving under a suspended license, troopers said.

She is currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing on Nov. 9.
