Investigators search for missing man with dementia, may be heading to former home in Lexington

NEWBERRY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a missing dementia patient who was last seen Saturday night.

Deputies say Donnie Richardson was last seen walking down Lake Street toward Main Street in the Silverstreet Community of Newberry County after 10 p.m. He reportedly left his home after his family went to sleep.

Richardson often revert to his former residence in Lexington and believes he needs to visit the Piggly Wiggly, the report says. Deputies have contacted area stores to advise them to look out for Richardson.

Investigators searched for Richardson using bloodhounds and for some distance they used a SLED helicopter to locate him, but he was not found. Authorities believe he may have gotten a ride from the area.

Richardson was last seen wearing a beige shirt with dark pants. He is 5’6, weighs 160 pounds and only had one eye.
