GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville police said a worker at an auto parts store stopped a violent shoplifter and detained him until officers arrived Friday night.

Police said they were called to Advanced Auto Parts on South Pleasantburg Drive just after 8 p.m. Friday in reference to a strong arm robbery in progress.

According to investigative reports, the employee saw a bottle of power steering fluid fall from under 52-year-old Ricky Lee Sullivan’s clothes and hit the floor. When the victim approached Sullivan and asked if he was concealing any more merchandise, investigative reports state Sullivan threw a punch at the employee and hit him in the shoulder. The victim was able to wrestle Sullivan to the ground and yelled for another employee to call 911.

Police said the employee was restraining Sullivan on the ground in front of the store when they arrived.

Sullivan was charged with strong arm robbery and two outstanding bench warrants, according to online jail records.
