LAKE LURE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Party Rock fire was 100 percent contained as of Tuesday, and firefighters from multiple states were being dismissed from the incident command center at Lake Lure, officials said.

Oregon’s incident management team will return control of the fire back to the local North Carolina Forest Service district on Wednesday morning. NCFS crews will continue to patrol the area for several weeks.

“We are pleased to be at a point where we can release firefighters to go back to their homes and return a fully contained fire back to the home district”, said Incident Commander Link Smith. “We would like to express our gratitude to the community for supporting the responders and entrusting us to contain the fire.”

While supply donations are no longer needed, funds can still be donated Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation, which officials said will act as a pass through for needs directly associated with the fire.

Mailing information for the foundation is below.

The town of Lake Lure will also have a public event on Sunday Dec. 4 to allow the community to thank firefighters who battled the blaze. The event will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Morse Park.

The fire burned 7,142 acres and cost an estimated $7.65 million.
