A cold front moving into the area will bring rain, wind, and possibly some damaging storms for the mountains, Upstate and northeast Georgia.
From noon-3pm the storms will linger across western NC, with wind gusts upward of 40 mph, especially for higher elevations. A Wind Advisory is in place until 7pm for most of that region.
Heavy rain, thunderstorms and damaging wind move into the Upstate between 2pm and 6pm. A slight risk for severe weather will move in with the system, for those near and south of the I-85 line and including northeast Georgia.
Heavy rain and damaging wind are the main threats.
The whole system will push out tonight, leaving clear skies and cooler conditions for Thursday, Friday, and the first half of the weekend. Rain moves back in Sunday and we’ll hold on to a chance for showers through Tuesday.
