Man charged with felony DUI after Travelers Rest High student killed in rollover crash

GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Coroner's Office said a 16-year-old died at the hospital after a crash on Sunday.

The collision occurred around 2:15 p.m. on Taylor Road near Greer. The coroner said Haylee Cantrell was one of four occupants traveling in a PT Cruiser when it ran off the roadway and overturned.

Cantrell was reportedly unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle. She suffered multiple blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead on Tuesday at 4:40 p.m.

The other three occupants in the vehicle were transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for injuries.

Joe Hovis of the South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed Friday that 18-year-old Tyler Scraggs had been charged with felony DUI causing death and felony DUI causing great bodily harm in the death of Haylee Cantrell. 

Greenville County Schools confirmed on Wednesday that Cantrell was an 11th grade student a Travelers Rest High School.
