Sunshine and cooler air move in in the wake of the storms. Highs reach 61 in the Upstate and 52 in the mountains, with a strong breeze in the high elevations. Tonight drops back into the 30s.
Expect seasonably cool days for Friday and Saturday with highs in the 50s area-wide, then rain moves back in for Sunday. Expect showers to develop toward late day.
Rain will continue, off and on, through the middle of next week. This is great news for our drought, as we begin to slowly chip away at our rain deficit.
Severe storms with damaging wind pushed across the Upstate and northeast Georgia. A tornado was reported in Simpsonville and that is where we have seen the most significant damage. The storms even produced significant damage around the Charlotte area, and there could have been another tornado touchdown there as well.
Watch for debris in the roads, along with power lines, trees and lots of standing water. You can get the latest reports on cleanup here.
