GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Tornado Warning was issued for multiple Upstate counties on Wednesday.

Greenville County School released the following statement on the warning:

Please pass along to the community.  All Greenville County Schools located south of Interstate 85 in the tornado warning zone are sheltering in place.  Any students, employees, or parents who are on school property for after school programs or athletic practices are sheltered.  Parents are encouraged to stay safe at home or work and not leave to pick up their children.  Any buses that are on the currently on the road south of 85 are seeking shelter at the nearest school or building.

Later the district said some buses were forced to stop due to unsafe conditions.

Additionally, some of our bus drivers are reporting road closures and unsafe road conditions in the Simpsonville/Five Forks/Southern Greenville County area.  Parents will be contacted about the location of their child’s bus if the bus is forced to stop.  Parents will be given the option to pick up their child from the parked bus.  Students who are unable to reach their parents and have not been picked up will be transported to Bryson Middle School.  Bryson will serve as a staging area where students will be supervised until their parent arrives.
