SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Hazmat and firefighters from several Spartanburg County departments were called out to a commercial plant early Friday morning.

The fire call came in around 2:00 a.m. on Dewberry Road.

The sign outside the plant says the business belongs to Auriga Polymers, Inc.

It's website says the facility produces polyester resins and polymers used in bottles, trays, sheets, film and textile applications. The website goes on to say "Bottles made from Auriga’s resins are used for carbonated soft drinks, water, beer, juice, wine and food".

A Fox Carolina photographer said there was a strong smell of burned chemicals in the air.
