GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Furman University athletics announced the resignation of the Paladin's head football coach.

After six seasons, Bruce Fowler is leaving with a 27-43 overall record.

“This is a difficult day for Furman University and Paladin Football,” said athletics director Mike Buddie.  “Bruce Fowler is an outstanding man whose integrity, love for the university, and work ethic on behalf of Furman and the football program have been exemplary.  He’s demonstrated a thorough commitment to the student-athletes and represented Furman in a first class manner at all times.  We certainly wish him the very best.”

Fowler led the Paladins to a 6-5 record in 2011 and has earned SoCon Coach of the Year honors.
