Family asks for help finding puppy stolen from their yard

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville family says they have been frantically searching for their puppy, Dallas, since he went missing last Friday from their home on Traction Street.

"We let him out around 12:30 or so and an hour later we came back out and noticed that the gate was open and the dog was missing," said Benita Clark.

Benita Clark says she bought Dallas as a present for her two year old grandson a month ago.

"We got him for an early Christmas present," said Clark.

Clark says her grandson has not stopped asking about Dallas since he was taken.

"His eyes would like up really big. He would call Dallas his baby," said Clark.

While passing out missing posters along her street, Clark says she found out another dog also went missing that same day.

"We had went to look for the dog and asked several people had they seen the dog. A gentleman down the street said they had taken his English bulldog,” said Clark.

Clark says she believes the two puppies were taken from their yards because both are purebreds.

“I’m thinking that maybe it’s the same person because it happened on the same street. They're stealing full-bloodied dogs and they're stealing puppies,” said Clark.

Gilberto Franco with Greenville Police says owners of purebred dogs should be extra cautious and make sure their dogs are never left unattended.

"The biggest thing is the value of them. People want that unique breed, so if you have one of those puppies or dogs that is a unique breed, it could definitely be a target," said Franco.

Clark says she hopes someone will find it in their heart to bring back the puppy that has quickly become part of their family.

“It would make his Christmas if he got his dog back before Christmas," said Clark.

Dallas is ten weeks old and weighs about ten pounds. He has a gray and white coat, with a patch around his eye.

If you have any information about Dallas’ whereabouts, the family asks that you contact them at 864-908-2355 or 864-920-9816.
