MAULDIN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Mauldin Fire Department was called to the scene of a residential fire on Friday.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene on Flanders Court around 12:30 p.m.

Mauldin fire chief William Stewart said no one was at home at the time of the fire, which damaged two neighboring houses. The heat from the fire melted their siding.

The house which caught fire was a total loss, Stewart said.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family displaced by the fire.

The cause of the house fire remains under investigation.
