SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Oconee County Sheriff’s Deputies say they arrested two Upstate men after a disturbance stemming from an argument on social media.

Per deputies, 49-year-old Lloyd Elmer Pearson of Walhalla and 27-year-old Novie Michael Phillips of Seneca were involved in an altercation outside of a business on Sandifer Boulevard in Seneca Sunday evening. According to evidence gathered at the scene, deputies say Phillips walked into the business to confront two individuals regarding an argument on social media.

The situation proceeded outside where Pearson and Phillips engaged in a physical altercation, and at some point Pearson produced a firearm and pointed the weapon at Phillips, deputies say. The weapon was not loaded, they confirmed.

During the physical altercation, damage was also caused to a vehicle in the parking lot that belonged to a victim not involved in the incident.

Both Pearson and Phillips were transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.

Pearson was charged with one count each of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, malicious injury to real property and public disorderly conduct.  Pearson was also booked into the Detention Center on a Walhalla Municipal Bench Warrant.

Phillips was charged with one count each of public disorderly conduct and malicious injury to personal property.

Pearson was released from the detention center on Monday. He was given a $7.382 personal recognizance bond. He also paid the bench warrant fine.

Phillips was also released on Monday. He was given a $2,382 personal recognizance bond.
