Deputies: Thief at large after stolen tractor recovered

MARION, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office said a thief is still at large after a stolen tractor worth $60,000 was recovered.

Deputies said a Marion man reported the Ford heavy construction tractor missing from a building site on Poole Mountain Road.

A Goose Creek Road resident told deputies they saw a male suspect driving the tractor on the evening of June 10 before he ran over a fence post in the resident's yard.

Detective said they tractor was recovered on June 12 in a wooded area on Wilson Valley Road off Goose Creek Road, but found no one located near it.

The suspect is described as a man, 30 to 40-years-old, with brown or sandy blonde hair.
