Police: Canton man opened fire at officers, started chase

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Asheville Police Department said a man is facing charges after opening fire at an officer on Wednesday.

Around 2:45 a.m., officers said Justyn David Ladet of Canton fired at police and led them on a pursuit. Ladet later crashed and was injured, police said.

Ladet is charged with driving while impaired, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, fleeing arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm in city limits.

He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
