The City of Greenville said a section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Falls Park near the top of the waterfall will close on will close on Monday, June 19 and likely remain closed for one week.

Crews will work from the water using machinery to place boulders along the stream bank.

Officials said changes, which were signed off on by the Army Corps of Engineers and the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control, will help limit erosion and provide a safer, gentler slope between the river and the adjacent sidewalk.

During the work, a parallel sidewalk will remain open as a signed detour to the Swamp Rabbit Trail closure.
