SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Firefighters said a fire destroyed several units in a Spartanburg apartment building Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported just before 8 a.m. at the Valley Creek apartments on Fairforest Road.

Flames could be seen shooting from the roof of an apartment building in the complex when firefighters arrived.

Westview Fairfield Fire Chief Scott Garrett said the roof caved in and the second and third floors of the building collapsed.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Garrett said the building is unstable and firefighters will likely be out securing the scene and investigating the source of the fire for the remainder of the day.

There was no word yet on how many people lost their homes.

Garrett said another fire at another building in the apartment displaced two dozen people in May.
