Waynesville police searching for vehicle in gas pump tampering

WAYNESVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Waynesville Police Department is searching for a driver and suspect vehicle believed to be connected to the installation of card skimmers.

Police said a black Dodge Mega Cab was caught on surveillance video tampering with gas pumps at Junaluska Exxon around 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

The driver is suspected of involvement in the installation of card skimmers at several area gas stations, according to officers.

The truck, which has a large brush guard, black wheels and a tan bottom, was last seen traveling on Russ Avenue.

Anyone with information on the truck or driver's identity is asked to contact detectives at 828-356-1175 ext. 3117.
