Former Gamecocks pitcher Tyler Webb to make debut with NY Yankees

NEW YORK (FOX Carolina) -

After four years in the minor leagues, former Gamecocks pitcher Tyler Webb got called up to the big leagues on Thursday. 

The call came from the New York Yankees.

Lefty reliever Webb was promoted from Triple-A and will join the team tonight as the Yankees host the Angels.

Webb joins fellow Gamecock Jordan Montgomery on the Yankees pitching staff. 

Webb is now the 7th member of the 2010 national championship team to spend time in the majors joining Whit Merrifield, Christian Walker, Jackie Bradley Jr., Michael Roth, Sam Dyson, and Montgomery.
