SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said a 26-year-old Upstate man is facing three attempted murder charges.

On Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to a location on Thurgood Marshall Road in regards to a shooting. When they arrived on scene, deputies said a victim was already being transported to the hospital in a personal vehicle.

Devek Jermaine Mitchell was identified as a suspect in the case and, in addition to three counts of attempted murder, he is charged with domestic violence and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

A background check from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division revealed previous arrests for criminal domestic violence, burglary, grand larceny, driving without a license, multiple counts of fraudulent check, multiple drug charges and financial transaction card fraud.

In 2011, Mitchell was one of 11 individuals to plead guilty in a $1.8 million mail fraud scheme, deputies confirmed.
