EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Easley Police Department had a very special visitor on Thursday.

Kate Bowers said her son, Cole, was turning 5-years-old. Since he was 2, barely old enough to know what a police officer does, he's wanted to be one.

"A lot of little kids look forward to meeting super heroes, but he is not into comic books. His super heroes are police officers," said Bowers.

Bowers said Cole had one wish for his 5th birthday. That's where Easley police came in.

Lt. Tyler Evans of the Easley Police Department said the Bowers family reached out and told them about Cole's birthday and infatuation with being a police officer.

"As you know, law enforcement is not always the most popular face, so we wanted to take the opportunity to make it special for him," said Evans.

Bowers said that for his birthday, Cole got a new police uniform.

"This is his third police uniform. He got the first one when he was 2 and he's kind of been obsessed with it since then," said Bowers.

That wasn't the best gift of the day, however.

"He showed up with his very own uniform that his mother made, so he was already set," said Evans. "We gave him a VIP tour of the facility which included our new dispatch center, booking, and training room."

Evans said he even took Cole out to the parking lot and let him take a patrol car for a spin (in the passenger seat, of course).

Cole learned how to work the blue lights and siren and even put Evans in handcuffs. K-9 handler Brinston and his partner Lu came also came out to join in on the birthday fun.

"Thank you Easley Police Department for making Cole's birthday so special!" said Kate Bowers.

Bowers said Cole was also given a new badge during the visit, he won't soon forget.

"It was really great to make his birthday special," said Evans. "Seeing him show up in his own uniform was awesome. He will make a fine officer one day."

"Being able to come up here and have the officers spend that much time out of their day to make his day, made him feel so special," said Alex Bowers, Cole's Dad.
