PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Pickens Police Department said a man is in custody after a six-hour standoff on Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to a home on Pineview Drive around 8:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a woman being held hostage by an armed man.

When police arrived on scene, they said there was initially no response at the door, but a female victim later came out of a back room and said Skyler Duckett was holding her against her will with a shotgun.

After the victim was removed from the home, police said they initiated communication with Duckett but after hours, he refused to surrender.

Pickens County SWAT was called to the scene and also tried to communicate with Duckett to no avail. They then fired two chemical rounds into the bedroom and Duckett came out.

He was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault and battery. Police chief Travis Riggs said additional charges were pending.

According to online jail records, Duckett is also charged with kidnapping, resisting arrest, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond at the Pickens County Detention Center.
