Police: Juvenile charged with murder after shooting at Asheville apartment complex

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Asheville Police Department is conducting a death investigation after a gunshot victim was found at an Asheville apartment complex.

Police were dispatched to the Pisgah View Apartments on Sunday around 12:15 p.m. in reference to a gunshot victim. When officers arrived on scene, they located a male victim who was unconscious and appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound, police say.

The victim was transported to Mission Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, officers continued.

He was identified as 20-year-old Rondy Samuel Shields III.

Police said warrants were issued for first degree murder for a juvenile suspect. No other information on the suspect has been released at this time.

The incident is under further investigation.
